Why Do Live Guitars Have No Leads?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: Why is it that when you see a video of a band playing live on youtube or something there are no guitar cables to the amp? are there wireless guitars?
Answer: The use a wireless system to transmit to a receiver plugged into the amp/pedals. Very simple actually.

There are wireless guitars. Check out Buddy Guy – used to used hundreds of feet of wire – now he’s wireless.

They got wireless mikes, too. Some of them are those telephone-headset-looking things like Garth Brooks used.

you do get wireless guitars but in music videos 9 times out of 10 the band aren’t actually playing the song – they’re just miming it.

maby. but most likely they are not playing their guitars they are miming to a soundtrack being played.

The guitarists play there guitars but the amps have pick ups so it picks up the music and then comes out of the amps. Some might be faking it but generally most will have pick ups on there amps so that they don’t have to use amp cables. I use one and it’s great because Im not stepping on the wire all the time.

They have a lead coming from the jack socket of the guitar into a transmitter which is attached to the strap. They then have a receiver which plugs into the amplifier/effects rack. Common makes are Shure, Samson and Nady.
