Which of These 2 Bands "TOOL" or "PANTERA" is the HARDEST to Play and Learn the LEAD GUITAR Playing/Parts To?

A lead guitar question that should definitely interest you all this week

Question: * I had a guitar player tell me once that "Pantera" (Dime Bag) is very technical and hard to play the lead guitar to and is easier to play the "Tool"?

* I do not play the guitar so I can not tell the differences in complexity of the guitar playing.

* "Pantera" or "Tool" which has the most complexity lead guitar playing?

Answer: Dimebag’s lead style was exceptional. He had a very individual approach to harmony and by far, he excels when compared to Adam Jones from Tool, although as previous people have said, Tool have a far more adventurous rhythm section (and probably one of the best drummers ever!)

Dime is a shred head, whereas Adam is far more feel based. Both are great, but to learn Dime’s stuff, you would need to do a lot of foundation work on your chops

  1. Music Is My Passion says:

Pantera all the way. Just listen to "Walk" "Floods" and "Cowboys From Hell"

  2. ZDSKRF says:

Tool has some very weird time signatures, but Dimebag is more difficult due to his insane shredding.

  3. Miss Murder says:

PANTERA. Seriously, Tool has nothing on them O_o.
Dimebag Darrell was the best. R.I.P

  4. Cigarley says:

Tool beats Pantera at everything except guitar… (vocals, lyrics, drums, bass)

Although a lot of Pantera songs are comprised of relatively simple riffs, the solos are way harder than anything Tool’s guitarist does.

(Honestly though, as a guitarist I find that the only Pantera songs that are difficult or complex are either on Power Metal or Cowboys From Hell)
