What Power Lead Do I Need for Guitar Amp?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I am going to be in so much trouble so if anyone can help id be eternally grateful. Ive just realised that whilst "spring cleaning" ive thrown out the power lead for my husbands guitar amp!

The details on the back of the amp are as follows:- Voltage: 230v 50hz and Fuse: T630mA.

Would I be able to buy a replacement at a UK high street electrical store?

Thanks ever so in advance :0)
Thanks Old Know All – Its a C13 connector but do I need to explain to them the Voltage details and Fuse details – sorry for sounding so dim but going to a girls school we did sewing not electrics :0)

Answer: The important bit is the shape of the connector on the amplifier. It’s likely to be one of these:

Maplins or Currys should have the one you need. If in doubt, trace the hole in the amp and take the picture with you.

C13 is all you really need to know.

If the fuse is 630ma, then any C13 cord will do. You might want a longer one though.
