Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Bass Or Drums. Which is Most Important in a Band?
What a great lead guitar question:
Question: Tricky One.
In my opinion –
Drums and bass are most important
then rhythm guitar
then finally lead.
I see lead guitar as the decoration of the music. You have to have the basics down from the bass and drums to start with, or its all a big mess.
what do you think?
Answer: Lead Guitar is just for show and tricks in its own way, so I agree there. I actually play both drum and bass, so I guess I would be biased saying Drum and Bass are the best. I will put them in order, starting with top priority. Bass, Rhythm, Drums, Lead. Bass keeps the songs "feel" throughout. Rhythm is the same, but with that high guitar sound. You don’t need drums, persay. But for most genres, it’s impressive and fun. It’s what the crowd is banging their heads to.

Rhythm Guitar + Drums, Rhythm guitar is the most important without them the song you are playing would have no fill and tone, but the without the drums you would not have a beat and a rhythm.
They’re all important in my book. Then again, I guess it depends on the kind of music. Plenty of bands have just one guitarist who alternates between rhythm heavy sections and melodic "lead" stuff. I can see how you’d think of lead guitar as the decoration, but some bands are really carried by the lead guitarist. Just depends.
They all are important to a band. You can’t have a band of just drums, or just bass, etc. Even if you try hard, it’s just not going to sound good.
Except rhythm guitar is pretty much useless, there are plenty of good bands without a rhythm guitarist.
i think rhythm guitar is necessary.. also keyboard is nice
