I Am About to Play Lead Guitar in a Worship Team in a Small Youth Christian Group……..?
What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: i play rythym/lead guitar in my thrash band but i dont know if i should use those solos and other sutff i use to play when i reharse with my band..what does a lead guitar exactly plays in a worship team????
Answer: I wouldn’t recommend incorporating solos into a worship team. A lead guitarist basically keeps the melody going for the song. Backing guitars are the solo-drivers, but usually only perform the solo that was originally done when the song was recorded/written. Plus, solos are designed to aim the focus at the musician, which is NOT ur goal (at least, it shouldn’t be; ur goal should be to create an atmosphere of worshiping God.). It could end up making you look really bad, and get dropped from the team.

Worship team? Christian thrash?
nice.
The only way to make lead guitar in a worship band look good is to take a knife and stab yourself in the face (3 times minimum)
dont be nervous god knows youll do well thats why he lead you here to this band jyust have fun
It depends on what song you’re all playing and what kind of music the worship band plays. I doubt thrash-sounding guitar pieces would work well when everyone else is playing alternative(which is what most christian music I hear is). Just play things that sound not too metal-ish and I think you’re good.
What you want to do in that situation, is to make your solos more melodic. Concentrate more on feeling than technical fast soloing. If I were you, I’d look up Hillsong United and Third Day. Listen to their solos and get a feel for what your going for. Good Luck.
If i were you i would tear it apart.
Pull out your best solos and get them out there for everyone to enjoy.
Seems to me that most worship music is usually pretty lame (while very well intentioned).
Spice it up and show what you can do. Make it more interesting. While still remaining revrent of course.
