Guitar Lead Wont Stay Connected to Guitar (ten Points for Best Answer)?
We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of lead guitar. Let’s take a look:
Question: pretty much what the title says, I own an electric guitar and when I try and plug the lead into it so I can use it with the amp, it simply falls out. The only way I can get sound to register is if I hold the lead in place, and even that doesnt work. I want to know how to fix it. Ten points for best answer, thanks a ton!!
Answer: If the 1/4" in jack in your guitar is not retaining the cable, then it’s broken and should be replaced. Anything else is just a band aid, and will break again.
If you don’t know how to solder, take the instrument to a guitar tech (or any electronics tech). That’s a 15 minute job, and less than $5 for the part.
