Does Jason White Play Lead Guitar for Recordings Too? (green Day)?

Another lead guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: i know he plays lead guitar when theyre touring, but on the albums does billie play lead guitar, and does jason play at all?

also all those awesome solos on the album… whos playing? jason or billie?

Answer: I would say Billie plays on the recordings. He doesn’t play on the shows because hes gotten more into interacting with the crowds recently, it’s much easier to do that without a guitar strapped to you. Jason plays lead guitar when Billie can’t.

I don’t know much about Green Day but generally the recordings are more important than the show. If Billie doesn’t play the lead stuff live then I seriously doubt he plays them in the studio. If he were a killer lead player he would be playing lead in live performances regardless of the fact he sings. For a great guitarist that is not an issue.

Nope. His knees are shot. The Titans released him and he went back to Oklahoma. Never knew he played guitar though.
