Difference Between a Rhythm Guitar and Lead Guitar?

Another lead guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I sound dumb…but is there any difference between the guitar itself..like a rhythm electric guitar or lead electric guitar..
i dont mean d guitarist…i mean d INSTRUMENT
Answer: A guitar is a guitar, whether or not is is "lead" depends on what that person is playing.

Of course, the notion of "rhythm" and "lead" guitar is really juvenile. The only real distinction you can make there is that a "lead" guitar plays solos, and lots of bands have 2 or 3 guitarists where everybody plays solos.

lol.. lead is the one that does the solos and lead stuff lol

Nope, no difference at all. And like Lucas said, a guitarist doesn’t have to be dedicated to one or the other. I can’t even remember the last band I played in that used 2 guitarist.
