Achostic Or Electric/Lead Guitar?

Another lead guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: Im thinking about going to best buy and buying a guitar with self teach dvd i Wanna Cover Some Heavy Metal Song By Bands Like Askimg Alexandria Suicide Silence Etc But Lots Of The Songs are also achostic so?
Answer: First of all, don’t buy a guitar from best buy. Best Buy’s service sucks and they offer a very limited selection of horrible guitars. Go to your local private owned-music store and they’d be glad to help you out. You’ll end up paying more but the service is worth it and you’ll end up with a better product that will fit your needs. Also the dvd’s suck, get yourself a music teacher and you’ll make more progress. Private music stores are also usually able to hook you up with a reputable teacher. If money is tight, you can find more lessons that are better on youtube than from a dvd. Anyways I hope this helps some , have fun and good luck.

I wont be all dumb just b/c you spelled acoustic wrong, but if you wanna do Heavy Metal you gotta go electric

I would go with an electric because you can get the acoustic sound with the right EQ.

I started off on electric. There’s a little more freedom there. There’s more frets and the higher frets are much more accessable (good for solos). Electrics run the distortion you know and love with metal.

Acoustics are good for their sound but I do not recommend starting off with one if you wish to jump right into metal. You can play the same notes on an electric as an acoustic but the sound is just different. You can still play electrics without distortion.
