Question: My friend is learning lead guitar for our band. She’s played bass for a few months now and is going to get lessons at our school with our music teacher.
She’s got a pretty good grasp of music skill and is pretty dedicated. She got up to the level of being able to play at a school concert on bass with lessons in about 5 months (I think). How long do you think it will take her to be a good lead guitar player? What tips can you give me to encourage/improve her guitar skills?

If that is the case, do you guys think it would be better to find a guitarist who’s a bit more competent? I’d hate to do that to my friend but if it will take that long; it might be better to get a different guitarist? The only thing is we’d prefer a Christian guitarist (because we’re a Christian band) but they seem very rare in London!
Lol we switched. Now I’m learning lead and she’s progressing on bass (we both played bass). So you’re tips were majorly helpful! I’m getting lessons at my school with the music teacher and he said today at the first lesson I have the potential to be really good because I already know music theory and he said I’m good at bass so knowing my way around some kind of guitar will help me progress. Answer: i have been playing for 4 years, and i still can’t solo.

but if you start out learning all of your scales, keys, chord progressions, and techniques it won’t take so long.

it may get overwhelming but don’t give up.
